POPLAR FARM
Recognising the increasing demand for British grown flowers from sunflowers to sweet williams, MM has recently invested heavily in British growing to balance our vast equatorial growing footprint.
Tulips have been a massive part of the identity of South Lincolnshire and Poplar Farm has been at the centre of that heritage since 1960 when Fred Ellis first rented the farm at Sutton St James.
Building glasshouses and cold stores from day one, Fred laid down the infrastructure to produce tulips and many other flowers for the UK market like the sunflowers featured above.
Andrew Ellis drove the business forward from his father’s small beginnings, facilitating the year-round production of a range of cut flowers, but specialising in forcing tulips.
Today Poplar Farm Flowers is one of the largest tulip flower producers in the world. This massive scale could not happen without significant investment and a fully committed workforce.
Poplar also grow high quality Peonies, Sunflowers, Gladioli, Lilies and a host of
other high-quality British stems.
Poplar Farm was acquired by the MM Group in 2024 and we are working to enhance this top-class UK based farm even further.

MM B Plants
In April 2025 MM moved into the world of plants in the UK. We began delivering for a number of major retailers and digital e-commerce plant vendors, with a view to improving quality and consistency in this important sector.
